Grey Eyes

Grey Eyes

A cold and blustery reflection,
Was hidden in her eyes,
Lost their color, lost to dust,
Registered no surprise,
As the macabre game was played before her,
Full of gloom and gore,
And all she did was laugh and cry;
“All hail to never-more.”
What once was green had gone to grey,
Her heart, the land, the sea,
Wars waged within her soul,
And on the fields beneath.
Her hands, how they twisted,
Clenched and churned,
Watching,
As the battle built and burned.
Watching laughing with her lips,
But wishing only to be held,
As one by one,
Each captain fell.
Once the fairest of them all,
The lady of gold and green,
Lost at last to the bleak worlds,
By the reality she had seen.
